Girls Tennis Advances in Sectional Play

The varsity girls' tennis team won the opening round in the sectional, beating Avon with a 4-0 score (one match was not completed due to rain).  Victoria Stevens was first off the courts with a very strong win at number two singles.  Then, the number one doubles team of Natalie Weisman and Emily Doehrman finished off their opponents and quickly claimed the second point.  Next, freshman Nicole Weisman completed the victory and won the deciding match point with a sound straight set win.  Katie Bullock, playing at number one singles, put in a good night's work and brought home the fourth point.  Blake Stayrook and Laura Smith, the number two doubles team, were playing in the third set when the clouds opened up and stopped play, but the match had already been decided.  Thank you to all the fans and JV teammates who offered such great support to our girls!  Next up:  Plainfield on Thursday at 4:30 at Avon.
