Bio

Cherise Hiss was elevated to Head Coach of Brownsburg Softball after leading the Bulldogs with an "interim-tag" during the 2021 season. She guided the Brownsburg to a double-digit win campaign while playing one of the toughest slate of opponents in the state of Indiana.

The 2021 campaign was her fourth year in the high school coaching ranks, all of which have come with the Bulldogs. Hiss was previously an assistant under former Head Coach Keith Brown, where she worked as the Pitching and Defensive Coach for the Bulldogs.

She helped the Brownsburg pitching staff post a Hoosier Crossroads Conference-leading 3.17 team-earned run average during an historic 2019 season. All-HCC selection Kelsey Endress' 1.94 ERA and 112 strikeouts both led the conference during her 2019 freshman campaign.

Brownsburg's 2019 squad won the school's first Hoosier Crossroads Conference Softball Championship and appeared in the IHSAA Semi-State for just the second time in program history.

A native of Illinois, Hiss began her collegiate softball career at Lake Land College. She helped the Lakers to a regional title and an NJCAA National Championship appearance in 2013 and 2014. Hiss posted a .357 batting average across those two seasons and was named to the 2013 NJCAA Division I Region 24 All-Freshman Team, as well as the NJCAA Division I Region 24 All-Tournament Team.

In 2014 she transferred to the University of Indianapolis and spent two seasons with the Greyhounds softball program. UIndy posted a 99-20 record and appeared in the 2015 NCAA Division II Women's College World Series during her time with the program. Hiss graduated with a Bachelors degree in sports management and business administration.

She was also a two-time All-Conference selection as a player at Casey-Westfield High School in Casey, Illinois.

Hiss is a Health teacher at Brownsburg High School and has been married to Brownsburg Football Assistant Coach Zach Hiss since 2018. In her free time she likes to go on long walks and hikes with her dog, Skye, as well as read a good book.
