The Varsity Bulldogs defeated #12 ranked Carmel 5-3, thanks to a powerful 5 run offensive inning in the 6th.  Junior pitcher Sydney Lowe was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs, throwing a complete game and allowing only 6 hits and 3 runs.
Brianna Harbin and Taylor Astell led off the 6th inning rally with speed. Each earned their hit after beating out a throw from the infield.  With Harbin and  Astell on base, Ally Carver stepped up to load the bases, taking a pitch to the elbow.  With the bases loaded, 0 outs and a score of 0-3, Elissa Brown singled to right field, scoring 1 run. Following Brown's hit, Mackayla Gordon doubled to left center field, scoring two more runners, bringing the score to 3-3. With runners in scoring position, Kyleigh Anderson hit a line drive through a right side hole, adding another run to the board and giving Brownsburg the lead. The final run of the rally was generated from Brandy Mowery's sacrifice bunt. Great base running from courtesy runner Kayleigh Pate was a major factor in the safe call at home plate, following Mowery's bunt.
Even with the Greyhound's offensive burst in the bottom of the 7th, the Bulldogs kept the lead for the next 1.5 innings. Taylor Mendenhall secured the final outs of the game after completing a double play with bases loaded and one out. Brownsburg travels to Zionsville tonight for a HCC match up.
