Girls Track and Field Fall short by 1.5 points at HCC Championships

The Bulldogs put up a valiant effort against the #1 ranked team in the state, HSE, at the HCC Conference Meet, ultimately falling just short by a narrow 1.5-point margin (HSE 106.5, Brownsburg 105). Despite the loss, the Bulldogs had a meet filled with impressive performances.

Record-Breaking Relay and Individual Champions:

  • The highlight of the day was the 4x100 relay team of Sophia N'GBesso, Izzy Neal, Abby Matthews, and Aysa Thruston. They absolutely scorched the track, clocking a time of 47.72 to not only win the event but also shatter the conference record!
  • Emily Ritenour soared to victory in the High Jump, claiming the HCC Championship title.

Runner-Up Finishes:

Brownsburg athletes dominated the runner-up spots across several events:

  • Loria Snowden put up a powerful performance in the Shot Put, securing second place.
  • Ashlyn Schwab showcased her impressive pole vaulting skills, earning a well-deserved runner-up finish.
  • Amiah Hamilton displayed her long jump prowess, leaping to a second-place finish.
  • Izzy Neal, not content with her relay victory, doubled down with a silver medal in the 200 meters and a bronze in the 100 meters.

Personal Best Performances:

Beyond the podium finishes, several Bulldogs achieved significant personal bests:

  • Scout Newman shaved significant time off her 3200 meters run, achieving a new PR of 11:06.
  • Mackenzie Steele dominated the 1600 meters with a PR time of 5:10.
  • Hannah Oppy displayed incredible stamina, pushing her 800 meters run to a new personal best of 2:19.

Looking Ahead:

The Bulldogs demonstrated tremendous heart and talent at the conference meet. They'll look to build on this momentum as they return home on May 8th for Senior Night against Zionsville. Let's go Bulldogs!
