By Sam Weiderhaft

The Bulldogs racked up 36 points en route to a tie for 17th place at the IHSAA Boy's High School State Championship at the IUPUI Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.

Brownsburg was led by Austin Kehr, who qualified for the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle on Friday night, and would place 8th in both final events on Saturday. Kehr's time of 20.73 in the 50 Freestyle in Friday's qualifying heat was a school record.

The Aquadogs also placed 6th in the 200 Freestyle Consolation Relay with Caleb Peschke, Jacob Johnson, William Scott and Austin Kehr. The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Peschke, Johnson, Lee Grimes, and Kehr also participated in their consolation heat, placing 5th.

Carmel won the overall state championship, their 6th in a row.

Coach's Thoughts

"It was a great weekend. Austin Kehr with two podium finishes was awesome especially since he's a junior and will be back next year. Two relays in the top 16 with only one senior swimmer in that mix bodes well for next year too. I'm really proud of our guys and our effort today." -Keith Gast, Brownsburg Boy's Swimming and Diving Head Coach.
