Swim/Dive competes in sectional prelims.

Brownsburg hosted a fast night of swimming on Thursday as the boys State tournament got underway with Sectional preliminaries. The Bulldogs are well positioned for finals with all swimmers advancing, highlighted by two top seeds and a new school record.
 
Sophomore Joe Ancel established a new school standard in the 100 Breaststroke (1:01.57) and will enter finals as the third seed. Ancel also qualified sixth in the 200 IM.
 
Freshmen Joe Myhre (100 Backstroke) and Vince Partlow (500 Freestyle) will head into Saturday as the number one seeds in their respective events. Partlow and Myhre will also participate in the 200 Freestyle, where they qualified third and fourth, respectively.
 
Juniors Bradley Green and Donnie Spencer and sophomores Kyle Baney and Diego La Torre each qualified in the top four in at least one event on Thursday. Green qualified second in the 100 Butterfly and fourth in the 100 Backstroke, Spencer was fourth in the 100 Butterfly and eighth in the 100 Breast, Baney qualified third in the 200 IM and eighth in the 100 Freestyle and La Torre qualified fourth in the 50 and 100 Freestyle.
 
Junior Grant Anspach qualified fifth in the 500 Freestyle and seventh in the 200 Freestyle, while junior Jared Krug (eighth, 50 Freestyle) and sophomore Jimmy Breedlove (eighth, 100 Backstroke) earned their first career appearances in a Sectional championship final with their respective swims.
 
Qualifying for consolation finals were sophomores Hunter Dahlke (13th, 100 Breaststroke), Chad Hale (ninth, 500 Freestyle and 12th, 50 Freestyle) and Adam Moll (11th, 100 Butterfly).
 
In relay action, Myhre, Dahlke, Moll and Hale qualified third in the 200 Medley Relay, Anspach, La Torre, Moll and Breedlove qualified third in the 400 Freestyle Relay and Ancel, Dahlke, Spencer and Hale finished fourth in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
 
The Bulldog divers will get in on the action at 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, as senior Grason Horvath, junior Kyle Johnson and freshman Logan Hannie participate in diving preliminaries. Swimming and diving finals will begin at 1 p.m.
