Boys Basketball Beats #5 Ben Davis
The Bulldogs hosted Ben Davis Saturday evening in a match up with westside rivals. The Bulldog community welcomed back the 2008 State Champion Boys Basketball team and coaches for a 10 year reunion. The team had a meal and celebration time before being introduced at halftime of the Varsity game. A day after a very sluggish start, the Bulldogs jumped out to a quick lead and grew that margin to 19-8 after a quarter. Both teams played a spirited second quarter with the Dogs maintaining their lead 30-19 at halftime. The visiting Giants made a big 3rd quarter run to cut the Brownsburg lead to five. Brownsburg battling foul trouble and a furious Ben Davis rally regrouped after the Giants took a one point lead. Behind Cameron Alford and Pierce Thomas the team regained and extended their lead back to 6 points and held on for the 55-52 victory. Alford had a solid stat line with 22 points 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals. Pierce Thomas made a big impact with 12 points 3 big energizing dunks and 3 assists. The Brownsburg big men deserve praise for their efforts defending the Ben Davis center. Malek Edmonds, Ryan Wiggins, and Richard Lang played a significant role in the Brownsburg victory. Wiggins also collected 7 rebounds and the team had 15 assists to only 9 turnovers. Another great team win as 9 different players contributed. Overall the varsity, JV and freshmen teams went 6-0 for the weekend vs Avon and Ben Davis. Great job Bulldogs!!
