Varsity Volleyball Has Comeback Win vs. Franklin Central

By: Maddie Greer

Varsity Volleyball gave their all tonight in a thrilling 3-2 victory over fellow HCC team Franklin Central. The Bulldogs were down in the first 2 sets (26-24, 25-23), but came back to win the last 3 (25-14, 25-17, 15-12).

Head Coach Katie Maples attributes this to a mental check by her team.

"We did a really good job of changing our mentality and changing our attitude. We came in a little passive and we just turned it around and said that we were going to be the drivers in the driver's seat and I'm really proud of our girls for being able to mentally flip that switch."

Senior Ashley Margetts dominated the court tonight with 13 kills and 25 digs. Junior Morgan Syoen was an essential player with 35 assists and 18 digs. Junior Cate Murphey also shone with 26 assists and 15 digs.

Offensive leaders were sophomore Audrey Naberhaus and freshman Quinci Thomas with 14 kills each.

Defensive leaders were junior Jaelyn Keown and freshman libero Ella Hemmings with 15 digs each.

The Bulldogs are back in action this Saturday, September 7th at the Brownsburg Invite at home. They will play Bloomington North and Castle at 9:00AM and 12:00PM.
