Boys' & Girls' Ran Well at Southport Invite

The boys' varsity cross-country team ran to a runner-up finish to champion Zionsville in Saturday's 9 Team Southport Invitational. Hari Sathyamurthy once again led the Dogs, but this time he was the individual champion in a time of 16 minutes and 31 seconds for the 3.1 mile race! Seth Webster and Elijah Wagner had top 10 finishes and were followed across line by Marcus Fierek in 12th and Devon Boone in 27th.

The boys' JV team placed second overall out of 8 teams.  The Bulldogs welcomed back senior Jack Thomas and were led by the third-place overall finish of freshman Noah Kaneversky.  Senior captain Zach Underwood ran a strong race, and newcomer Mike Storms ran a personal record time by almost 1 minute!

The Girls' Cross Country team placed 3rd at Saturday's Southport Invitational just behind good squads from Zionsville and Connersville. The top 3 remained steady with the front of the pack as Julia Popenfoose placed 3rd overall in 19:56, Cassidy Brown 6th, and Sydni Montgomery 7th. Junior Brooke U'Ren and Sophomore Laura Sanders wrapped up the scoring for the Bulldogs as their 4th and 5th runners, while Rachel Graham had one of her best races of the season to come in close behind.

In the reserve race the Bulldogs placed 2nd overall. Olivia Zoog lead the way as she came through the 3.1 miles in a time of 22:58. Brianna Channon was right behind and Caroline Johnson had her best race of the season and set a new season best time of 24:08. Alex Smock, Mackenzie Vondersaar, Jennifer Bowles, Heidi Mitchener, and Mysti Lebeter rounded out the scoring for the girls in a nice race for the team. Great job to all of the girls!
