Boys' and Girls' Cross Country has strong showing at Martinsville Invite

The Bulldog Harriers were in action at Martinsville High School Saturday morning in their first 5K race of the season. Both teams had strong races, as the girls ran to 5th place while the boys finished 4th out of 16 teams!

The Lady Dogs were led by the duo of Julia Popenfoose and Cassidy Brown, both nailing down top 25 finishes in a field of more than 110 girls. Mackenzie Vandersar, Kyra Jo Gaerke, and Jamie Weider rounded out the top five scorers for the purple and white. Allison Hering crossed the line as the first Bulldog in the JV race.

The guys finished only behind state power houses Columbus North, North Central, and Chesterton High School. Justin Hays led the charge in 10th place, followed by Alek Minkis and Elliot Shaw with top 20 finishes. Mark Bond and Sam Fellers ran to the fourth and fifth positions on the team, and Seth Webster led the Bulldogs in the JV race with a strong race as well.
