Decatur Twilight Champs!!

The Boys Track and Field  team is the 2014 Decatur Twilight Champs! The boys beat the 2nd place team by 45 points. Individual champions for the night were Johnny Dotlich in the 110 hurdles, the 4 x 100 meter relay team of Toks Akinrabade, Isaiah O'Neal, Tyler Kirtz and Vincent Lismon, Mark Bond in the 3200m run, the 4x400m relay team of Isaiah Hightower, Nassif Kouton, Tyler Kirtz, and Hari Sathyamurthy, Isaiah Hightower in the high jump, and Kevin Albert in the pole vault. In the mile run Hari Sathyamurthy and Mark Bond took first and second place running personal best times of 4:34 and 4:37. Hari received his 3rd first place ribbon of the night in the 800 meters followed by Brandon Britton in 2nd place. Toks and Isaiah O'Neal also finished first and second in the 100m dash. Other great performances for the night was Kent Craig in second place for the discus and shot put. Great job Dogs! 

 

It was a great night for the girls' track team as they opened the outdoor season at 6-0 by being crowned the Decatur Twilight Invitational champions. Several key performances on the night helped in the victory and showed signs many good things to come. Sophomore Courtney Stull racked up several points for the team placing 2nd in the 100m hurdles, 2nd in long jump, and joining Briana Smith, Daija Middlebrook, and Monique Burnes to place 1st in the 4x100m relay. Cassidy Brown set a new personal record in the mile run grabbing 1stplace in a time of 5:41 while Julia Popenfoose followed one step behind at 5:43 and also earned a 3rd in the 2 mile race as well. Junior Crystal Stowers was back to her winning ways launching the shot put over 35' for 1stplace, while Britany Newson grabbed 2nd in the discus matching her best throw of 107'. Finally Freshman Mackenzie Harless made an awesome debut placing 2nd in the high jump at 5' and also scoring valuable points in the 400m and 4x400 relay. Congratulations to the entire team on an impressive win and keep up the hard work!
