Tennis Competes at Zionsville Invite

The boys' varsity and JV tennis teams met up with three state-ranked teams this weekend at the Zionsville Invitational.  The varsity played the #1 ranked Carmel Greyhounds in the morning match and lost 5-0, and the JV went down 3-0.  Sam Peterson played a solid match with incredible footwork but Carmel's top player (a state singles' contender) was simply too much to overcome.

In the second round of play, the 'Dogs faced #19 Zionsville and again lost 5-0, with the JV losing 3-0.  Sam Peterson again had a great outing, losing the first set in an 11-9 tie-break but sustained an injury that affected the rest of his day.  The two doubles team of Jefferies-Allen kept it close with the Eagles but eventually lost 6-4, 6-4.

In the final round against #22 Floyd Central, the Bulldog varsity lost 4-1 and the JV lost 3-0.  With Peterson sidelined, the 'Dogs were at a disadvantage from the start.  Greg Fulling brought in the highlight of the day with an inspiring win at number two singles.  The varsity will be back in action Monday against Ben Davis to complete a lightning-interrupted match.  The match will begin at 4:30
