Volleydogs End Season in Sectional Championships

The Volleydogs ended their season in the Championship round of Sectionals, falling to Avon 1-3.
The Dogs won the first set 25-21, forcing the Orioles into timeouts twice after a block by senior Skyy Smith and a kill by freshman Quinci Thomas. Although Avon went on to win the next 3 sets (25-23, 25-15 and 25-18), the Bulldogs put up a fight the entire way through.
Defensive leaders were sophomore Audrey Naberhaus with 4 block assists, seniors Skyy Smith and Marah Wood with 3 block assists each, senior Ashley Margetts with 19 digs and freshman Ella Hemmings and junior Jaelyn Keown with 10 digs each.
Offensive leaders were freshman Quinci Thomas with 13 kills, senior Skyy Smith with 9 kills, senior Ashley Margetts with 8 kills, sophomore Kendall Meller with 7 kills, senior Katie Hardegree with 24 assists and junior Morgan Syoen with 15 assists.
Accomplishments this season
The Dogs have had a phenomenal season and there are plenty of numbers to prove that.
- Ended the season with a 20-12 record
- Second in HCC with 6-1 conference record
- The Dogs won 3-0 over Terre Haute South Vigo in round 1 of Sectionals with set scores of 25-14, 25-14 and 25-7.
- Also won 3-0 over Plainfield in Sectional Semi-Finals with set scores of 25-18, 25-14 and 25-18.
- Currently ranked #11 in the state
- 3 players ranked in HCC top 20 hitters (Skyy Smith, Quinci Thomas and Kendall Meller)
- 4 players ranked in HCC top 20 kill leaders (Quinci Thomas, Skyy Smith, Ashley Margetts and Kendall Meller)
- 4 players ranked in HCC top 20 assist leaders (Katie Hardegree, Morgan Syoen, Cate Murphy and Ella Hemmings)
- 2 players ranked in HCC top 20 ace leaders (Ella Hemmings and Jaelyn Keown)
