Varsity Volleyball Wins Intense Match vs. Western Boone

Varsity Volleyball Wins Intense Match vs. Western Boone

By: Maddie Greer

The Varsity volleyball team fought for their win against Western Boone tonight. An intense 4 set match ended with the Bulldogs winning 3 and the Stars winning 1.

All 4 sets were close throughout and each point showed that both teams were hungry for a win. The Bulldogs pulled through and showed their perseverance against a tough team, head coach Katie Maples said.

"WEBO (Western Boone) brought in good competition, a really good team that plays scrappy volleyball. They really challenged us to know what was going on and be mentally aware. I think we've got some good work to do, but I think we're aware of what we've got to do and what's ahead of us."

Defensive standouts were Seniors Ashley Margetts with 13 kills and Skyy Smith with 12 kills. Offensively, Margetts shone again with 25 digs along with Freshman Ella Hemmings and Junior Morgan Syeon, who both had 17 digs each.

All 3 volleyball teams (Freshmen, JV and Varsity) play again this Thursday, August 29th at Hamilton Southeastern.
