Girls' Track Advances Group to Regionals

The Girls Track team traveled to Zionsville Tuesday evening for Sectional action and after a good night a large group will be moving on to the Regional meet next week. Freshman Lizzie Daniels kicked things off by qualifying in the 100m dash. Courtney Stull cruised through the 100m hurdles to take 1st place and her 4th career Sectional championship. The 4x100 relay of Stull, Daniels, Claire Hathaway and Joy Sopitan exceeded pre-meet standings with an impressive 2nd place finish. Hathaway also advanced once again in the Long Jump with a solid jump of 16' 8". Junior Mackenzie Harless had a great night and achieved the best jump of her career in the High Jump as she placed second with a height of 5' 3". Joy Sopitan also moves on to the next round in the 200m dash with a time of 27.09. Other nice finishes came from Mackenzie Barrett, who got her best jump of the year at 5' 0", Sydni Montgomery getting her season best of 12:34 in the 2 mile, and Seniors Allison Hering and Mackenzie Vondersaar both ending their High School careers by running fantastic races and getting their best ever times in the 800m. Congratulations to all of the girls and good luck next week as they travel to Lafayette Jeff for the Regional meet.
