Hendrickson's 80th minute goal gives @bhsdogs_gsoccer Rotary Bell win

By Keelen Barlow

The varsity girls' soccer team defeated Avon 1-0 to win their third straight B&O Trail Rotary Bell matchup and move to 4-2-2 on the season. Taelyn Hendrickson's header-goal in the 80th minute propelled the Bulldogs to their win over the Orioles.

Goalkeeper Alanna Dixon registered her third shutout of the season in the win. She has allowed just two goals in her last 360 minutes played.

Right out of the gate the Orioles tested Dixon in net. She was forced to make a pair of key saves before the match even hit the six minute mark. The match was a defensive slugfest in the first half as neither team was able to grab ahold of a lead.

The Bulldogs have been a second half-team for the most of the season. That trend would continue against the Orioles.

Brownsburg's offensive pressure and pace would immediately kickstart at the beginning of the second half. The Bulldogs continued to pour chances on the Orioles defense, but they held strong until the late goal. The Bulldogs outshot Avon 15-3 in the second half and generated four corner kick oppourtunities.

With just 21 seconds left in the match, Hendrickson's goal sent the Brownsburg sideline into a frenzy and gave the Bulldogs the win over the Orioles.

The Bulldogs will host Shortridge tomorrow night (Sept. 12) for their next matchup. Tickets: https://bit.ly/2LX6GQ6
