Three-goal second half helps No. 12 @bhsdogs_gsoccer beat Mooresville

By Keelen Barlow

In their second game in as many days, the varsity girls' soccer team overcame a sluggish start to beat Mooresville 4-0. Mallory Guy scored a goal in each half to lead the Bulldogs to victory. Jayden Gibson notched a pair of assists.

Despite heavy legs, the Bulldogs dominated possession of the ball for most of the match as Mooresville struggled to sustain offensive pressure. Mallory Guy opened up the scoring for Brownsburg with a goal in the 22nd minute. The chance came on an empty net from the near side of the box as Jayden Gibson sent in a corner kick.

Brownsburg would continue to control the ball for the beginning of the second half but to no avail. Head coach Josh George subbed nearly his entire lineup out and then back in the match late in the second half. Following the mass substitutions, Brownsburg's offense came alive.

In the 72nd minute, Grace Crawford came in off the bench and immediately beat the goalie from right in front. Sam Vondersaar then put the icing on a 4-0 win two minutes later with her first goal of the 2019 season.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday (Aug. 31) when they host Franklin Central.
