Senior Marissa Kier has ended her high school golf career earning the prestigious Academic All-State award from the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association. Academic All-State nominees must have at least a 3.5 GPA, a combined math and verbal score of 1,000 on the SAT as well as submit a transcript of their high school career grades. Out of all of the applicants, the top 15 seniors are chosen from all of Indiana.

On top of being an outstanding student, the nominee must also play impressively on the Varsity level. Marissa is a 2 time HCC All-Conference Winner. At Sectionals this year, she scored a 78 and won a 5th place medal. She shot an 80 at Regionals, helping the Bulldogs earn a 6th place spot out of 18 teams.

Head Coach Phyllis Miller had this to say about Kier: "Marissa is an extremely talented athlete on the golf course but is also very accomplished in the classroom.  Her nomination and award for Academic All-State is a testament to her exceptional abilities on the course an in the classroom and are a result of her tireless work to be the best at all she does.  She is especially deserving of this award and is among the finest examples of a student-athlete, having achieved at remarkable levels in her academics and athletics."
