Boys Track & Field Claims Sectional Title

The Bulldogs traveled to Avon Friday night to compete in the IHSAA Sectional Track and Field Meet. The boys scored 185 points to take home the Sectional title. In the field events, the Bulldogs had three sectional champions. Reis Thomas won the discus with a throw of 160-1. Dane Middlebrook finished second in the discus throwing it 148-8. In the long jump, Pierce Thomas finished at the top jumping 23-6.25. That mark set a new outdoor school record and it tied the Sectional Record. John Colquitt finished in 4th with a personal best jump of 20-10. In the high jump, Marcos Barbosa cleared 6-7 for the first time ever and took home the sectional title. Tyray Lackey also had a personal best jump of 6-2.5 which was good for 3rd place. Matt Albert cleared 12-0 in the pole vault and finished 5th while Reis Thomas was 3rd in the shot put (45-7.5) and Dane Middlebrook finished 4th in the shot put (45-2). On the track, the boys went 2/3 in the 100 meter dash. Shai Sumpter-Bey ran 11.08 to finish second while Gavin Waltz ran 11.17 to finish 3rd. The boys also went 2/3 in the 110 meter hurdles. Tyrone Griffin was second in a time of 15.11 and Marcos Barbosa was third in a time of 15.12. Tyrone was also second in the 300 meter hurdles running 41.43. The boys finished first and second in the 200 meter dash. Pierce Thomas was the sectional champion in the event running 22.24 while Gavin Waltz was the runner up in a time of 22.46. Haiden Diemer-McKinney was the sectional champion in the 400 meter dash running 50.88. That time broke his own freshman school record in the event. Trey Fisher was second in a time of 50.98. Tyler Nolan finished third in the 800 meter run getting under two minutes again running 1:59.04 and his brother Trevor Nolan was third in the 3200 meter run in a time of 9:53.02. Alex Freeman ran a 7 second PR in the 1600 meter run. His time of 4:25.87 was good for second place. The 4x400 meter relay team of Trey Fisher, Haiden Diemer-McKinney, Tyler Nolan, and Luke Lacey ran 3:26.63 to finish third. Finally the 4x100 meter relay team of Pierce Thomas, Gavin Waltz, Andrew Tetrick, and Shai Sumpter-Bey won the event in a season best time of 42.34. The boys travel to Lafayette Jefferson on Thursday evening to compete in the IHSAA Regional Track and Field Meet.
