Boys' Swim/Dive Earn 7th Consecutive Sectional Championship

The Bulldogs earned their 7th consecutive Sectional Championship today, along with sending 9 events to IHSAA State and 3 divers to IHSAA Regionals. All swimmers that placed 1st in events will head to State preliminaries on Friday, Feb. 28 and the top 4 divers will head to Regionals on Tuesday, Feb. 25. 

Head Coach Keith Gast is looking forward for next weekend when the Aquadogs will get to compete against the best in the state, "We had a good day. Austin has a school record. We've got some guys that are really focused on scoring some points at state next week. So the Aquadogs aren't done yet."

Final scores for section 13 were:

The Brownsburg relay team of freshman Jamie Cameron, freshman Michael Williams, senior Nathanael Schaekel and senior William Scott kicked off the morning by winning the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:41, dropping 2.8 seconds. 

Sophomore Jacob Johnson won the 200 IM with a time of 2:01.33, dropping 3.78 seconds and the 500 Free with a time of 4:56.37, dropping 2.39 seconds. 

Junior Austin Kehr won the 50 Free with a time of 20.87. Kehr also won the 100 Free with a time of 45.53, breaking the BHS record for the event in the process. The record was previously set by William Eggers in 2005. 

Sophomore Kale Davidson won diving with a score of 396.55. Freshman Isaac Tweddell came in 2nd with a score of 338.00 and junior Myles Grant came in 3rd with a score of 208.70.

Senior Nathanael Schaekel won the 100 Fly with a time of 53.21 and the 100 Breast with a time of 58.57, dropping 2.61 seconds. 

The relay team of junior Caleb Peschke, sophomore Jacob Johnson, senior William Scott and junior Austin Kehr won the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:27.96, dropping 5.24 seconds. 

The round out the day, the Brownsburg relay team of junior Caleb Peschke, sophomore Jacob Johnson, junior Lee Grimes and junior Austin Kehr won the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:13.80, dropping an impressive 13.36 seconds. 

The Aquadogs will continue onto next week, with a few more stops before State Finals on Saturday, Feb. 29.

Divers will go to Regionals on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 6:00 p.m. at Brownsburg. Qualifying divers from Decatur Central, Crawfordsville, North Central, New Palestine, Terre Haute South. Divers who place 1-8 will then move on to State preliminaries/semifinals on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 9 a.m.

Swimmers will go to State preliminaries on Friday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. at the IU Natatorium at IUPUI. Swimmers that advance from preliminaries Friday will move to Saturday, Feb. 29 back at IUPUI at 1:00 p.m.
