Boys' Swim Advances to Sectional Championships

The Boys' Swim team is on their way to Sectional Championships after a successful night at preliminaries. 

The Dogs started off the night by winning the 200 Medley Relay. The team of freshman Jamie Cameron, freshman Michael Williams, junior Avarey Newman and junior William Hasselbrinck won with a time of 1:43.81.

Junior Caleb Peschke won the 200 Free with a time of 1:49.41 and junior Lee Grimes came in 3rd with a time of 1:52.88.

Sophomore Jacob Johnson won the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.11 and the 500 Free with a time of 4:58.76. Junior Austin Kehr won the 50 Free with a time of 21.09 and the 100 Free with a time of 47.09.

Senior Nathanael Schaekel came in 2nd in the 100 Fly with a time of 54.41. The relay team of junior Grimes, junior Hasselbrinck, junior Peschke and senior William Scott came in 2nd in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:33.20.

Freshman Jamie Cameron came in 2nd in the 100 Back with a time of 59.52 and junior Newman came in 3rd with a time of 1:00.04.

Senior Schaekel won the 100 Breast with a time of 1:01.18 and freshman Williams came in 3rd with a time of 1:03.65. 

In the 400 Free Relay, the team of senior Leister Perrin, sophomore Brayden Walters, sophomore Jacob Johnson and junior Lee Grimes won with a time of 3:27.16. 

Head Coach Keith Gast was ecstatic for his team: "Good night for the bulldogs.  All 24 swims and all 3 relays made it back to Saturday and took care of business. We are the top seed in the medley and 4 free relays as well as in the 200 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 100 free, 500 free and 100 breast." 

All of the Aquadogs will continue to the Sectional Championships on Saturday back at Decatur Central. Diving sectionals will start at 9:00 a.m. and swimming championships will begin at 1:00 p.m.
