Varsity Boys' Soccer: Season Preview

Varsity Boys' Soccer: Season Preview

by Jarod Lipson

Brownsburg's varsity boys' soccer team finished 10-4-1 last season, but this year will be a whole new challenge. With 16 seniors graduated and moved on, the pressure is on to find a new identity.

New players, same goal

The team won sectionals last year and their goal is to do the same this year.

Noah Yohannes, a 4th year varsity player that led the team in scoring last year, will join Delijah N'gbesso as leaders on the field this season.

The 15 new players on the roster lead to an entirely new defense with a new keeper and a new backline. Shane Milner, Slade Hopper, Max Newberry, Will Boulton and Sammy Mroz are some incomers to watch out for.

Adjusting for all the new faces

Most of the new faces on the varsity team have played together on JV. Even so, head coach Josh Brown and the rest of the coaching staff will have to adjust their formations to the new personnel.

They're also going to be cautious with workloads early on in the season as players get aclimated to the speed of the varisty game.

Games to watch for

The Avon game is always huge, but every conference game will be important this year. This is a very tough conference, so every win will count.

The season opens at home against Cathedral on August 21 at 6:30.
