Bio

Tom Maples is in his fourth season at the helm of the Brownsburg Boys' Golf program. He has led Brownsburg through the Hoosier Crossroads Conference, one of the toughest conferences in the state of Indiana, and built a strong foundation in a short tenure.

Maples' inaugural season with the program was capped off by an IHSAA Sectional championship at FoxCliff Golf Club in Martinsville, Indiana. The crown was the program's sixth in school history and Brownsburg's first since 2016.

Prior to taking over at Brownsburg Maples spent nine years at Avon High School, where he helped lead a highly successful program from 2006 to 2013. Maples was brought on as an Assistant coach for the 2006 campaign before being elevated to Head Coach of the Orioles in 2009. Maples led Avon from 2009 to 2013 and for an additional season in 2018.

Led by current PGA tour member Patrick Rodgers, the Orioles were crowned 2009 IHSAA State Champions in Maples' final year as an Assistant Coach. Rodgers was the IHSAA Individual State champion the following season with Maples as his head coach. Avon won a pair of IHSAA Regional championships and was a 7-time IHSAA State Finalist during Maples' tenure with the program. He coached six First-Team All-State selections and two Fred A. Keesling Mental Attitude Award winners while at Avon.

Maples also spent time on the PGA Tour as Rodgers' caddy from 2014-2017. He was Rodgers' full-time caddy before returning to the high school ranks in 2018.

As a player, Maples was a four-year varsity member of the Huntington North golf team, where he was a two-time All Olympic Conference selection. The Vikings won four consecutive IHSAA Sectional championships and were IHSAA State finalists on two occasions during his career. Maples graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Kinesiology following his high school playing career.

Maples, a Physical Education Teacher at Brownsburg West Middle School, and his wife Katie, Brownsburg Volleyball Head Coach, have three children (Pete , Max and Jack). When not coaching, the Maples family enjoys spending time as a family at the lake, playing golf and fishing. During the winter he is also a Junior Varsity Assistant coach for the Brownsburg Boys' Basketball team.
