Bio

Steve Lynch enters his ninth season as the Head Coach of Brownsburg Boys basketball.

The Bulldogs won a share of the Hoosier Crossroads Conference championship for the third time under Lynch in 2020-2021. Three of the program's four HCC championships have come during his tenure at Brownsburg. Following the season, senior Pierce Thomas was named Brownsburg's third IndyStar Indiana All-Star to play for Lynch (KJ Walton; 2015, Malek Edmonds; 2020).

Lynch's tenure at Brownsburg started with three IHSAA Sectional championships in his first four seasons as head coach. His 2014 Bulldogs snapped a four-year IHSAA Sectional championship drought while the 2015 Bulldogs appeared in the IHSAA Regional final for the first time since 2008. 2020 marked Brownsburg's fourth IHSAA Sectional title under Lynch before the COVID-19 pandemic brought the season to a halt.

Prior to the Bulldogs, Lynch led Mt. Vernon (Fortville) to a 103-52 record over seven seasons and a 2013 IHSAA Semi-State appearance. That 2012-2013 Marauders squad started the season 17-0 and was the No.1 ranked team in IHSAA Class 3A before falling in the IHSAA Semi-State. In 2009-2010, Mt. Vernon posted a 24-3 record and appeared in the IHSAA Regional final under Lynch.

Lynch holds a 239-112 record over his 16-year high school coaching career while leading programs to five Sectional championships and a Regional championship. He has six 20-win seasons to his resume including four at Brownsburg.

His coaching career also includes three stops at the collegiate level where he worked for 13 seasons under Steve Alford, current University of Nevada head coach and former Indiana University mens basketball player. In 1991 Lynch began coaching at his alma mater Manchester College, where he is inducted into the school's Hall of Fame with their 1995 NCAA DII National Runner up team. He was a part of a five total conference championships (regular season and tournament) and three NCAA DII Tournament appearances while at Manchester.

He followed Alford to Missouri State University, formerly Southwest Missouri State University, in 1995 and was on staff for the program's 1999 NCAA 'Sweet Sixteen' appearance. Lynch coached one final season at the college level as an assistant for the Ball State Cardinals in 2005-2006.

Lynch, a geometry teacher at Brownsburg, likes to read, garden, boat and work outside in his free time. He is married to his wife of 20 years, Amy, and has two kids Abby (17) and JD (14).
