The Bulldogs took a tough loss on the road to HSE tonight. With a final score of 35-37, both teams were vying for a win and playing hard to get it.

The 1st quarter was a low-scoring one for the Bulldogs with an ending score of 5-15. Senior Connor Lucas hit all three of his free throws, along with a 2-point basketball by senior Jakobi McGowan. Halftime left the Dogs and Royals tied up 22-22.

McGowan continued to shine throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarters. The senior hit a clutch 5 points in the 2nd quarter and a much-needed 3-pointer in the 3rd quarter. The Dogs had a 16-0 run in the 2nd to 3rd quarter as well. The end of the 3rd had Brownsburg leading 31-30.

The final quarter was a frustrating fight for the win. Both teams had a low-scoring quarter combined with fouls and missed shots. The Royals eventually pulled ahead for a 2-point win and giving the Dogs their 3rd loss of the season.

With this win, the Bulldogs and Royals are tied HCC Co-Champions, both with a 5-2 conference record.

Lead scorer tonight was senior Malek Edmonds. In only his 3rd game back after an injury that had him out for the month, Edmonds had 12 points tonight along with 5 rebounds. Senior Jakobi McGowan was a strong leader for the Dogs, coming in with 10 points and 3 rebounds.

Juniors Tyray Lackey and Luke Lacey had 4 points each. Both juniors continued to be quiet team assets with Lacey walking away from the night with 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Lackey with 2 rebounds.

Senior Connor Lucas took a bit of a back seat tonight, with his 3 points of the night in the 1st quarter. Junior Quentin Bragg added 2 points for the Bulldogs as well as 2 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Dogs will round out their regular season at Center Grove on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. They will then start prepping for Sectionals, with the first round beginning on Tuesday, March 3.
