The Brownsburg varsity boys' basketball team defeated North Central (Indianapolis) 55-51 in their 2019-2020 season opener. The Bulldogs survived a late surge from the Panthers to move to 1-0 on the year.

Malek Edmonds led the Bulldogs with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Jakobi McGowan notched 7 points and 8 rebounds in the win.

Pierce Thomas posted a huge second half performance for Brownsburg as he scored 11 of his 14 points in the second half. Thomas accounted for half of Brownsburg's 14 points in the third quarter.

After a sloppy first quarter for both teams the Bulldogs jumped out to a double figure lead in the second quarter. Connor Lucas canned a pair of three pointers during a 10-2 run for Brownsburg to open the frame.

Thomas nailed a deep three-pointer just before the buzzer to give Brownsburg a 28-18 lead at halftime.

The Bulldogs held onto their lead in the third quarter as Thomas paced Brownsburg with 7 points. Brownsburg had a comfortable 42-33 lead heading into the final quarter but North Central made a strong push.

The Panthers sank a couple desparation three pointers during a run that trimmed Brownsburg's lead to as little as four late in the game.

Jakobi McGowan and Luke Lacey came up with a pivotal offensive rebound and steal that helped Brownsburg hold onto their lead. The Bulldogs held off the Panthers and closed out the big win.
