Boys Hoops Closes Out Regular Season with Win Over Center Grove

Tuesday the boys basketball team finished up their regular season with a game against #8 ranked Center Grove.  With one of the nation's top players, Center Grove jumped out to a quick lead only to see the Bulldogs comeback to take a 12-11 lead after a quarter of play.  The game was close throughout the second quarter until a last second layup gave Center Grove a 4 point lead at the half.  Brownsburg made a quick push to close the lead only to see Center Grove extend its lead to seven midway through the third quarter.  Brownsburg came to life to close out the quarter on a small run and had the lead cut to two points.  The fourth quarter was a battle as all players gave a great extra effort as you would expect from state ranked teams.  Brownsburg made a small run to retake the lead and take control of the game.  Hitting 11 of 13 free throws to close the game out, the Bulldogs defeated the Trojans 62-56.  The Bulldogs once again had great balance.  One game after almost handing out 10 assists each, Cameron Alford and Pierce Thomas lead with 22 & 20 points respectively. Gunnar Reffeitt had 5 rebounds, and Alford dished out 5 assists.  Reis Thomas had 9 points and Malek Edmonds had 8.  Jakobi McGowan had another great game with several significant plays. For the season, Alford, P Thomas, R Thomas, Edmonds, Reffeitt, Ryan Wiggins, Luke Lacey, McGowan, Richard Lang, Connor Lucas, Seth Harley, Quentin Bragg & Jason Meeks along with a great JV squad has been great about giving grear effort, playing unselfish, and having a great attitude. Clearly, a fun team to watch this season.  The Bulldogs finish the regular season 17-6 and will host sectionals next week.
