Sharp-shooting Bulldogs Defeat Pike

Tuesday Brownsburg hosted Pike in another battle of top 10 teams.  Brownsburg showed it is learning from these tough games and came out for a great first quarter to lead 20-13.  After allowing Pike to score 5 quick points the defense dialed in and held Pike to 8 points the rest of the quarter.  Offensively five different players scored for Brownsburg to keep the attack very balanced.  The second quarter saw both teams struggle to score but Brownsburg was still able to squeeze out an one point advantage to increase their lead to 31-23.  The third quarter saw Pike cut the lead quickly and force a quick Brownsburg timeout.  Reis Thomas responded from the timeout scoring all 12 of his points for the game in a four minute stretch that saw Brownsburg regain control of the game.  The final 8 minutes was a shootout with Pike pressing to catch up.  Both teams scored the ball quickly with Pike cutting the lead down to 2 points at 48-46.  Brownsburg once again responded to push the lead back to 7 at 69-62 before a late three pointer capped the scoring and a 69-65 win for Brownsburg.  A great collective effort highlighted by 6'10 Richard Lang laying out for a loose ball in the first half and several players fighting for possession of loose balls and recoveries.  Seven different players contributed to the team total of 69 points.  Cameron Alford had 20 points 5 rebounds and 6 assists.  Pierce Thomas had 13 points 7 assists and 2 blocks, Reis Thomas scored his 12 points on 5-6 shooting from the field.  Malek Edmonds added 10 points and 4 rebounds on 4-5 field goals.  The team shot 62% from 2 point and 38% from 3 point and 72% from the line to put together a fine offensive evening.  Jakobi McGowan, Ryan Wiggins, Gunnar Reffeitt, Richard Lang and Luke Lacey all made really solid contributions to the win.  The players fulfilled their lockerroom instructions with a great collective effort and hard earned team win.
