Allstate Insurance by Ryan Owens Sneakers for Santa Shootout announces 2021 field

The Allstate Insurance by Ryan Owens Sneakers for Santa Shootout announced its 2021 field today for the 2nd Annual Boys Shootout at Varsity Fieldhouse Dec. 4 and the inaugural Girls Shootout Nov. 27. The two-day, 13-game event will bring together a highly touted field for one cause.

Allstate Sneakers for Santa Shootout asks that fans from the surrounding communities of each of the 26 schools, as well as those from the Indianapolis community, consider donating a new or gently used pair of shoes for children in need. All shoe donations will benefit local charities and organizations. Sneakers for Santa participants and partners helped donate more than 800 shoes to Samaritan's Feet during the inaugural showcase in 2020. 

This fall for the first time, Allstate Insurance Sneakers for Santa will feature a talented lineup of girls basketball programs to form the premier girls basketball shootout in the midwest. Brownsburg, Salem, Franklin, Reynoldsburg, Westfield, Centerville (OH), Bedford North Lawrence, Fremd (IL), South Bend Washington, North Central, Crown Point, and Mt. Notre Dame convene for the inaugural Girls Shootout Nov. 27 at Varsity Fieldhouse. Crown Point, the reigning IHSAA Class 4A state champions, and Mt. Notre Dame, the defending OHSAA Division I State champions, will meet in the Allstate Insurance Sneakers for Santa Girls Shootout finale. To support local businesses, Sneakers for Santa is partnering to highlight Small Business Saturday Nov. 27 at the girls shootout. 

On the boys side, Brownsburg, Plainfield, Gary 21st Century, Tuscola (IL), Hammond, Fort Wayne North, Crispus Attucks, Warren Central, Cathedral, Brush (OH), Carmel, Homestead, Lawrence North, and Gary West are set to participate in the second-annual Allstate Insurance Sneakers for Santa Boys Shootout Dec. 4. Lawrence North and Carmel were the IHSAA Class 4A state finalists from a year ago. 

The 13-game event will be broadcast live on the ISC Sports Network for the second consecutive year.

Girls team bios: 

  • Brownsburg (17-11 in most recent year): The defending IHSAA Class 4A State Runner-up from a season ago, Brownsburg returns nine players from its 2021 IHSAA State Finals team. 
  • Bedford North Lawrence (22-3): 4-star 2023 guard Chloe Spreen leads the Stars, who made an appearance in the IHSAA Regional Final last season. 
  • Centerville (22-3): 4-star Ohio State verbal Cotie McMahon led the Elks to an OHSAA Regional appearance earlier this year. 
  • Crown Point (25-1): Miss Basketball candidate and 2022 IUPUI verbal Jessica Carrothers returns to pair with 6-foot-4 2023 Purdue verbal Lilly Stoddard for the reigning state champions. 
  • Franklin (22-3): Franklin appeared in the 2021 IHSAA Class 4A Semi-State and is led by 5-foot-10 Indiana junior all-star Kuryn Brunson. 
  • Fremd (10-3): 6-foot-2 IUPUI verbal commit Brianna Woolridge leads Fremd. 
  • Mount Notre Dame (28-0): The two-time defending OHSAA State champions are led by 5-star KK Bransford who lists UConn, Maryland, Louisville and Texas in her final 12 schools
  • North Central (24-3): Tanyuel Welch is rated as one of the top point guards in the state of Indiana for the North Central Panthers, who won a 2021 IHSAA Sectional title
  • Reynoldsburg (18-4): Ohio State commit Mya Perry and West Virginia commit Imariana Russell highlight the Raiders returnees from last year after the graduation of Alexia Mobley to Louisville
  • Salem (20-3): The Lions appeared in the 2020 IHSAA State Finals and advanced to the 2021 IHSAA Sectional final. 
  • Washington (22-6): The defending IHSAA 3A State runner-ups are led by 2022 Maryland commit Mila Reynolds, Division I recruit Rushuna Jones, and 5-star 2023 forward Amiyah Reynolds. 
  • Westfield (16-5): Alyssa Crockett is a 4-star Michigan verbal and Indiana Miss Basketball candidate for the Shamrocks. 

Boys team bios  

  • Brownsburg (13-9): The Bulldogs advanced to the 2021 IHSAA Class 4A Sectional championship and return rising 6-foot-9 senior Shon Tupuola
  • Brush (15-6): 2022 Ohio commit Elmore James, 2023 6-foot-8 forward Tyler Williams, 2023 6-foot-6 four-star Marlon Barnes Jr and 6-7 2022 forward Antwone Wilfolk lead the Arcs
  • Carmel (26-2): The Greyhounds are coming off the 2021 IHSAA State championship and return rising seniors Peter Suder and 6-foot-10 Charlie Williams as well as 6-foot-8 junior Sam Orme 
  • Cathedral (18-3): Rising 2023 recruiting star 6-foot-10 Xavier Booker, 6-foot-6 senior Jaxon Edwards and Tayshawn Comer return for the Fighting Irish 
  • Crispus Attucks (18-7): The Tigers boast 2023 four-star Jalen Hooks, who has offers from DePaul, Geogria and Illinois, among others
  • Forth Wayne North (13-10): The Legends have a young lineup including 2024 guard Brauntae Johnson, who holds an offer from Fort Wayne
  • Gary 21st Century (7-14): Quintin Floyd and Demetrius Moss combined to average more than 30 points per game last year for the Cougars. 6-2 guard 2023 guard Ashton Williamson also retuens. 
  • Gary West (22-5): 6-foot-9 North Carolina commit Jalen Washington is rated as 28th best player in the nation's 2022 class 
  • Hammond (18-2): 2023 guard Jordan Woods leads the returnees for the Wildcats who made an IHSAA Regional final appearance last year. 
  • Homestead (25-1): Indiana Mr Basketball candidate and Purdue verbal Foster Loyer as well as 6-foot-6 Andrew Leeper return from the Spartans 2021 IHSAA Regional team 
  • Lawrence North (28-3): Indiana commit and Indiana Mr. Basketball candidate CJ Gunn is back for the defending IHSAA State runner-ups. 
  • Plainfield (24-3): Cael Vanderbush leads the Quakers into this year after a record-breaking IHSAA Regional final season for Plainfield last year
  • Tuscola (13-5): 6-foot-4 2022 Loyla Chicago verbal Jalen Quinn leads the Warriors
