Maples enters her fourth season leading Brownsburg Volleyball with a strong foundation.

The Bulldogs won a second consecutive IHSAA Sectional championship in 2021, with Maples becoming the first coach in program history to win consecutive IHSAA Sectional championships. Brownsburg posted a 26-7 record which included a 10-0 record at the Varsity Fieldhouse. Brownsburg's 26 wins in 2021 marked a program-high for Brownsburg under Maples. The Bulldogs notched 8 wins over top-ten opponents and finished the regualr season with a strength of schedule ranked 3rd in the State according to IndianaPrep Volleyball.

Brownsburg rode an 11-match win streak heading into the IHSAA Regional at Greenfield-Central, marking the longest win streak for the program since 2015.

Brownsburg's 2020 campaign was capped off with the school's first appearance in the IHSAA Regional final. The Bulldogs knocked off rival Avon 3-1 in the IHSAA Sectional championship, snapping the program's 30-year drought. The Bulldogs defeated Roncalli in five sets, the schools first IHSAA Volleyball Regional win, before falling to eventual state champion Yorktown in the Regional final.

She has led Brownsburg to back-to-back 20-win seasons in a short tenure. The 2019 season was the inaugural campaign for Brownsburg under Maples and the Bulldogs posted their first 20-win campaign since 2016. It was also the first time since 2016 that Brownsburg advanced to the IHSAA Sectional Final.

Maples' tenure at Brownsburg follows a three-year stint at her alma mater and local volleyball powerhouse Avon High School. Malpes worked under legendary club and high school coach Scott McQueen between the 2016 and 2018 Avon seasons. That stretch saw the Orioles post a 100-15 record with Maples on the coaching staff. The 2017 Avon squad posted a 37-3 record and won the IHSAA Class 4A Volleyball State Championship. The very next season saw the Orioles go 33-4 and finish as IHSAA Class 4A Runners-up.

The Orioles won at least 30 games in each of her three seasons as an assistant coach and sent numerous players to NCAA DI programs among the likes of Purdue, Louisiana State University (LSU) and Ball State.

Formerly Katie Griffin, she was a two-sport athlete at Avon High School.

She played volleyball at Avon under McQueen from 2005 to 2008 and helped lead the team to three Hoosier Crossroads Conference titles, three IHSAA sectional championships and two Hendricks County titles. She garnered Second Team All-State honors as a sophomore and First Team accolades following her junior and senior seasons. She also earned All-HCC honors and was named Team MVP for her sophomore and junior seasons.

On the hardwood, Maples graduated as the Avon girls' basketball program's season and career leader in blocked shots. She was a four-year basketball letter winner and earned All-Hendricks County her sophomore, junior and senior seasons.

Coming out of high school she was listed as No. 32 on the PrepVolleyball.com list of Senior Aces and among Volleyball Magazine's Fab 50. Griffin signed to continue her volleyball career at Purdue University for Dave Shondell, another legendary coach in the state of Indiana. At Purdue, Maples was a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a 2013 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award Honoree. The program went 113-28 during her time as a Boilermaker and advanced to the NCAA Elite 8 twice. With Maples on the roster the 2011 Purdue squad went 29-5 for its best record since the 1985 season. In all, the outside hitter played in 98 collegiate matches and recorded 430 kills. The 2010 season saw her post a career-best 190 kills.

She was a family and consumer science education major at Purdue.

Maples is married to Tom Maples, Brownsburg Varsity Boys’ Golf head coach and Varsity Boys’ Basketball assistant coach. They have three children (Pete , Max and Jack). When not coaching, the Maples family enjoys spending time as a family at the lake, playing golf and fishing.
