Bio

Craig Beckner, a veteran in the Brownsburg community, will be marking his ninth year at Brownsburg this fall. Beckner started at East Middle School, where he coached Girls’ Cross Country for eight years and moved to the Head Coach position at the High School in 2014. He also serves as the assistant Girls’ Track and Field coach.

Beckner has steered the program to four consecutive IHSAA Sectional championships dating back to the 2016 season, which ties the longest stretch of consecutive Sectional championships in program history. That run includes a stellar 2017 campaign where the Bulldogs punched a ticket to the IHSAA State Finals for just the second time in program history. Brownsburg posted a 7th place finish at the 2017 State Finals meet, which was the school's best Cross-country State Finals team finish at the time.

In 2019, he guided former Bulldog Brooke Dixon to the highest individual State Finals finish in Brownsburg school history. Dixon capped her stellar four-year career with a 9th place State Finals mark and Indiana Cross-Country All-Star honors.

Abby Lynch was named 'Miss Indiana Distance' following a 2020 season where she was an HCC runner-up, Sectional champion and State Finals qualifier under Becker.

Beckner graduated from Carroll High School in 1996 and attended Ball State University. He earned his masters degree at the University of Indianapolis  and currently teaches PE at BHS and EMS.
