Girls Track & Field Sets Records at Regional

The girls track and field team competed in the Lafayette Regional Tuesday night. Abby Lynch had a great night of competing as she is the Regional champ in the 1600 and 800 meter runs. In the 1600, Abby broke a 16 year old Regional record by running a time of 4:52. 73 and defeating last year's state champion by 7 seconds. She followed that performance by winning the 800 meter run with a time of 2:13.93! Brooke Dixon also had a great night of competing as she ran a state standard 1600 meter time of 5:01.56 for a 4th place finish, advancing to the state finals. The 4x400 relay of Lizzy Daniels, Brooke Dixon, Jordan Griffin, and Abby Lynch also had a great night as they ran a season best time of 4:06.21 for a 5th place finish. This time was fast enough to earn a State call-back and the girls will be competing at the State finals! Senior Katie Weldy had a big throw in the discus of 125'3" for a 5th place finish. This throw was far enough for her to also get a State call back and she will be throwing in the State finals on June 1st! Congratulations to all of our State finalists and Good luck in Bloomington!
