Bulldog T&F Competes

The girls track and field team traveled to IU Wednesday night and had some great performances!
Shanti Gregg started off the night making the finals in the 60 meter hurdles with an overall 5th place finish. Joy Sopitan qualified for the finals in the 60 meter dash and placed 5th with a new personal best time. The 4x800 relay of Brooke Dixon, Carly Altier, and Gabby Bische brought home first place and the distance medley relay of Brooke Dixon, Ally Becki, and Gabby Bische also brought home first place! In the field events, Te'a Nibbs placed runner-up with a jump of 16'1.5". Mackenzie Barrett also had a runner-up finish in the high jump with a 5 foot jump, and Roni Roberts and Kaylee Price both had big personal bests in the shot put to place 3rd and 7th. The girls travel to Wabash College on Saturday to compete in the HCC meet. Go Bulldogs!

Wednesday night was a big night for the boys track and field team at Gladstein Fieldhouse. Three more indoor school records fell. Although senior Leigh Nutall broke the school record in the 60 meter hurdles running 8.75 and placing 5th, junior Tyrone Griffin placed 3rd running 8.73. For now, Tyrone owns the school record in the event. Sophomore Donovan Marcus once again was nipping at the heels of a finals appearance. Donnie finished one spot out of the finals for the second meet in a row and ran 8.96. This may be the first time ever Brownsburg has had 3 hurdlers under 9 seconds at an indoor track meet.

The Bulldogs also made a splash in the 60 meter dash. Junior Shai Sumpter-Bey placed 6th in the event while junior Bryce Kirtz took 2nd breaking his own school record running 7.11. The big record to fall was the 4x200 meter relay. Shai Sumpter-Bey, Bryce Kirtz, Leigh Nutall, and Trey Fisher finished 3rd in the event and broke the school record by a whole second, running 1:31.87. Other notable performances include: DJ Terrell in the pole vault clearing 11 feet the first time and placing 5th, Leigh Nutall placing 4th in the long jump with a 20'8" jump, and Myles Fisher splitting a 52.1 in the 4x400 meter relay in his first 400 ever. Our boys will travel to Wabash Saturday to compete in the HCC indoor invitational.
