Hathaway Signs with Xavier

Brownsburg senior Claire Hathaway has signed a national letter of intent to continue her education and compete in track and field for Xavier University.  Hathaway will play a key role for the Musketeers as a sprinter and long jumper. Claire has made her mark in the long jump at BHS, having broken the school record multiple times since her freshman season.  Her record currently stands at an impressive 17' 10 3/4".

Brownsburg Girls Track Coach Craig Beckner shares, "Claire is a tremendous athlete and has competed at the highest level for both our track and volleyball teams for the past four years. The consistent thing with Claire is her incredible work ethic as she is a tireless worker on the track, court, and in the weight room. Add to that her positive personality which makes her a great teammate and role model for those around her, and you have an athlete that any coach would absolutely love to have."

Much of Claire's success in long jump has developed alongside her jumping coach Bill Brauman, who said, "Claire is extremely coachable and a great leader who is always willing to help her teammates succeed.  As a coach it's very rewarding to have one of your best athletes also be your hardest workers."
