Boy's and Girls' Track Both Come up Short Against Avon

The girl's track team lost to Avon last night 79.5 to 52.5. Event winners on the night were Sibong Ncube in the 100 meter hurdles in 15.61, Laura Bess in the 1600 meters in 5:21, Kerry Devney in the 300 hurdles in 49.43, Tavon McCollum in the 400 meters in 1:00.8, Bess again in the 3200 in 11:35, and the 4x400 relay team of McCollum, Morgan Weller, Lauren Markovich, and Rocky Sulkoske in 4:19. Others who placed well were Jolori Schafer second in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, Florence Akinribade second and third in the 100 and 200, Mandie Holbrook third in shot put, Weller third in the 400, Shay Roberson second in disc, Ncube and Caitlin Dressler second and third in the high jump, Schafer third in pole vault, and Devney second in the long jump. 

 The boys' track team came up short against the Avon Orioles yesterday but was led by individual long jump champion Taylor Hemmert who leapt over 21 feet, falling just short of the school record. Taylor's jump came up just one quarter inch short of the oldest school record on the books, set back in 1975. Other individual victors for the Bulldogs were: Jeremy Shupperdin the high hurdles and high jump, Wyatt Rondot 1600 m, David LaPerle pole vault, the 4 x 800 relay team of Ben Hendricks, Elliott Shaw, Bradley Bowles, and Seth Webster and the 4 x 100 relay team of Latrelle Bandstra, Taylor Hemmert, Tyrelle Lismon, and DeJoure Mercer.
