The Brownsburg varsity Girls' soccer team defeated No. 6 Center Grove 2-0 on Sept. 23. The result moved the Bulldogs to 7-4-3 while handing the Trojans their first loss of the season.

The Bulldogs scored their two goals off just four total shots in the match.

Two second half goals and a stellar defensive performance, led by Sarah Boucher, helped propel the Bulldogs to their first ISCA 3A poll win of the season. The win snapped a three-match winless streak for the Bulldogs against Center Grove.

Heading into the match, Center Grove was averaging 8.4 goals per game over their last five matches. The Bulldogs put the clamps on the Trojans attack for their sixth shutout of the season.

The teams were locked in a scoreless draw at the half. Despite both having consistently good runs in the first half, neither team found the back of the net.

Breana Montgomery nearly gave the Bulldogs a one-goal advantage just before the half. Her shot from outside the box rang off the crossbar and bounced in the box.

The Trojans led the shot count 5-2 at the break, but both teams earned two corners in the first half.

Behind a pair of second-half assists from Taelyn Hendrickson, Brownsburg fended off the visting Trojans.

In the 51st minute, Jayden Gibson scored her first goal of the 2019 season to give Brownsburg a 1-0 lead. Kylie Conrad's header-goal in the 70th minute gave Brownsburg a 2-0 lead. Hendrickson sent in a perfectly placed free kick to set up the latter goal.

From there, the match came down to defense and game management. The Bulldogs closed it out for their fourth home win of the year.
