@bhsdogs_gsoccer set for pair of pivotal HCC matches

By Keelen Barlow

The varsity girls' soccer team is set for a pair of matchups this week against HCC foes ranked in the ISCA Coaches Poll top ten. The Bulldogs will host No. 8 Fishers on Wednesday (Sept. 18) before traveling to No. 4 Noblesville on Saturday (Sept. 21).

Brownsburg is 6-3-2 (1-1-1) on the year after knocking off McCutcheon 3-1 on Monday (Sept. 16).

Bulldog Bits:

  • Brownsburg went 2-1 last week with wins over Avon and Shortridge and a loss to Plainfield at Lucas Oil Stadium
  • The Bulldogs have found the back of the net 28 times this year; that number is good enough for second in the HCC
  • Breana Montgomery scored her first-ever varsity goal in Brownsburg's 3-1 win over McCutcheon on Sept. 16
  • In the Bulldogs' 14-0 win over the Blue Devils, nine different players scored a goal for Brownsburg; it was the largest margin of victory for the Bulldogs in more than a decade
  • Grace Crawford has scored a goal in each of the Bulldogs' last two matches and currently leads the team with six goals on the year
  • Alanna Dixon's 32 saves this season rank in the top five in the HCC

About the Tigers:

No. 8 Fishers comes into the match with a 7-1-2 (3-1-1) record in 2019 and is coming off a 2-0 win over Mt. Vernon on Sept. 16. After a three-match winless streak from Aug. 31 to Sept. 11, the Tigers have won their last two matchups.

Fishers' lone loss of the year came to No. 1 Hamilton Southeastern last week.

The Tigers have scored just 14 times this season, a mark that ranks last in the HCC, but Fishers is one of the most defensively stout teams in the conference. While splitting time in the net, Tigers goalkeepers Jordan Imes and Kaitlyn Hicks have allowed three goals this year and notched eight shutouts.

Series History: Since 2010, Brownsburg is 0-6-2 against the Tigers

About the Millers:

No. 4 Noblesville is 6-0-2 (2-0-1) on the season after drawing No. 6 Homestead on Sept. 14. They will host No. 10 Zionsville on Sept. 18 prior to taking on the Bulldogs.

Thirteen different players have scored a goal this year for Noblesville. Jenna Chatterton leads that group with five goals this season. Chatterton scored the lone goal for Noblesville in their match against the Spartans.

Isabella Griffey has scored on three occasions this season.

On the other side of the ball, the Millers have allowed just four goals in 2019 and have shutout four opponents. Sara Kile has played the majority of the time in net for the Millers and boasts a goals against average of 0.211.

Series History: Since 2010, Brownsburg is 1-8 against the Millers
