The varsity girls' soccer team took down Cathedral, the top-ranked team in IHSAA Class 2A, on Sept. 5 with a 1-0 win over the Irish. Taelyn Hendrickson's goal in the 67th minute, her first of the season, won the game for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs dominated the majority of possession in the match, especially in the second half, as they continued to limit the chances for the Irish. Despite a number of chances, the Bulldogs were limited to a single shot in the first half. The shots led the shot count 3-1 in a scoreless draw after 40 minutes.

Brownsburg would sustain offensive pressure for the majority of the second half as they threatened to grab the lead.

Lydia Emmert nearly gave Brownsburg the lead in the 59th minute as sent in a shot from the top of the box that sailed just high over the top left corner. Eight minutes later, Hendrickson's corner from the far side hooked into the bottom corner of the net to give the Bulldogs the lead.

In the 78th minute, goalkeeper Alanna Dixon came up with what head coach Josh George called "the biggest save of her career". She thwarted the Irish one-on-one chance right in front of the net to seal a Brownsburg win.

The Bulldogs will continue their 2019 campaign at the Zionsville Invite this Saturday (Sept. 7) against two out-of-state foes. They will take on Assumption (KY) and Brunswick (OH).
