The girls' soccer team will travel to take on the Brebeuf Braves on Thursday (Aug. 22). That matchup is set to kick off at 6 p.m.

About the Bulldogs

Following two postponed games, the matchup will be the first of the year for the Bulldogs. Brownsburg was originally scheduled to play Mooresville on Aug. 17 and Ben Davis on Aug. 20 to open the year, but rain and thunderstorms pushed back both of those matchups.

During the preseason, Brownsburg scrimmaged defending IHSAA Class 3A champion Carmel. Madeline Dawson scored twice in that matchup. They were slotted in the No. 12 spot of the ISCA preseason Class 3A girls' soccer poll.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 12-5-1 campaign in 2018 and are led by duo Taelyn Hendrickson and Kylie Conrad. Hendrickson is coming off a 12-goal campaign in 2018 while Conrad played in all 18 matches and scored five goals as just a freshman last year.

The Bulldogs return five of their six defenders from a back line that shut out nine opponents a year ago.

About the Braves

The Braves are coming off a 10-7-1 season in 2018 that saw them crowned Marion County and Circle City conference champions. Brebeuf would go on to fall in their sectional opener to Carmel. Due to the IHSAA Tournament Success Factor, Brebeuf has moved down to Class 2A for the next two-year cycle after playing in 3A last season.

Brebeuf returns three of their top four scorers from a season ago along with their starting goalkeeper. Sophie Weeter will suit up again in 2019 after scoring 8 goals and earning an ISCA All-District 2nd Team selection. Paige Edens, the team's third leading goal scorer, also returns.

Goalkeeper Savannah McNeal posted a 1.16 goals against average for Brebeuf last year while seeing action in 17 of the Braves' 18 matches.

The matchup will be the first of the year for the Braves after they closed the preseason with a scrimmage against North Central. Brebeuf was ranked as the No. 3 team in the ISCA preseason Class 2A girls' soccer poll.
