No.3 @BHSDogsWrestlin wraps up regular season with pair of ranked-duals

The Brownsburg varsity wrestling team will close its 2019-2020 regular season campaign with a pair of duals against ranked opponents this week. The Bulldogs will host No.8 Perry Meridian for Senior Night tomorrow before traveling south to take on No.15 Columbus East on January 24.

The home dual versus the Falcons is set for 6:30 PM at the Varsity Fieldhouse. Friday night's dual will get underway at 7 PM.

Brownsburg comes into the week with a 17-2 record in duals this year.

     Last Time Out

Brownsburg competed at the 2020 Hoosier Crossroads Conference Wrestling Championship last Saturday and won its sixth consecutive HCC crown. The Bulldogs dominated the day and sent 11 wrestlers to the HCC Finals. 106-pound Logan Miller, 160-pound Peyton Asbury and 285-pound Dorian Keys all came away with individual HCC titles.

     About the Falcons

Perry Meridian comes in ranked No.8 in the IndianaMat.com Overall Team Rankings. The Falcons are 10-4 in duals this season.

Last weekend the Flacons won the 2020 Mid-State conference team championship.

Perry Meridian boasts a few key wrestlers who are ranked near the top of the Indiana Mat Individual Rankings. That list includes 113-pound Alex Cottey who is ranked No.1 and was an IHSAA State Finals runner-up last season at 106.

132-pound Matt Koontz is ranked No.2 for his weight class and has several wins over top-ten opponents this year. 152-pound Noah Baker is ranked No.13 and 182-pound Aiden Warren is ranked No.4 for the Falcons.

     About the Olympians

The Olympians won their fourth consecutive Hoosier Hills conference championship last weekend as four Olympians were crowned individual champions. Columbus East is 10-7 in duals this year and is ranked No.15 in the latest Indiana Mat rankings.

Columbus East comes in with a solid core of ranked wrestlers this year. 152-pound Kade Law is ranked No.8 by Indiana Mat and is coming off an IHSAA State Finals qualification last season as a freshman.

160-pound Sam Morrill and 182-pound Noah White are ranked No.13 and No.8 in their respective weight classes.

     Up Next

The pair of duals will wrap up this year's regular season slate for Brownsburg. The Bulldogs' run in the 2020 IHSAA Wrestling State Tournament will get underway next weekend with the Sectional at Avon High School. Brownsburg will look to defend its streak of four-consecutive IHSAA Sectional crowns at the meet.
