Debbie Smiley is on the heels of her seventh season leading Brownsburg, where she has guided one of the winningest programs in the state of Indiana during her tenure.

She led the program to an historic postseason run in 2021 as Brownsburg appeared in the IHSAA State championship game for the first time ever. The Bulldogs won a fourth IHSAA Sectional championship under Smiley before taking down No.1 ranked North Central in the IHSAA Regional at Decatur Central. Brownsburg's run continued all the way to Banker's Life Fieldhouse, where the Bulldogs finished as IHSAA State runner-up for the first time in school history.

Brownsburg senior Ally Becki was the second Bulldog to be selected for the Indiana All-Star team since Smiley took over. Becki was a Runner-up for Miss Indiana Basketball in 2021.

Smiley has compiled a 122-60 record in six seasons leading Brownsburg. She guided the program to its first share of a conference championship in 17 years as Brownsburg finished as 2018 Co-Hoosier Crossroads Conference champions. The Bulldogs have been crowned Hendricks County champions in six season's under Smiley.

From 2018-2020 she led Brownsburg to its first pair of back-to-back 20-win seasons. The Bulldogs appeared in the IHSAA Regional final while Allison Bosse was selected for the Indiana All-Star team to cap the 2019-2020 campaign.

Smiley took over in Brownsburg following an 18-year stint leading three Greenwood Community High School programs. She won 127 games for Greenwood Girls' basketball from 2002-2015 and guided the program to the only IHSAA Sectional championship in its history. Smiley also led the Greenwood Girls' Cross Country and Track programs from 1997 to 2015.

From 1995-2001 Smiley was an Assistant Coach for her alma mater Franklin College. She was brought onto the staff after a helping lead the Grizzlies to the NCAA DIII Tournament in her junior and senior years on the team. She also competed in Cross Country and Track for Franklin while on campus.
