No.11/18 @bhsdogsghoops staves off Mooresville in Sectional opener, 51-42

The Brownsburg varsity girls' basketball team defeated Mooresville 51-42 at Plainfield High School in the opening round of the 45th Annual IHSAA Girls' Basketball State Tournament on February 4. The Bulldogs held off a late rally from the Pioneers to advance to Friday's Semi-Final round.

Brownsburg was led by a trio of upperclassmen who stepped up big in the game. Allison Bosse hit five threes and poured in 23 points in the win. Ally Becki added 15 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Mackenzie Stien posted an 11-point performance for Brownsburg.

Mooresville jumped out a 5-0 lead on the Bulldogs but Brownsburg responded with a 14-4 run to close the first quarter. Ally Becki came alive with a few buckets in transition in the second to help the Bulldogs stretch their lead to 25-16. The Pioneers closed the gap just before the end of the half to make it a 28-24 Brownsburg lead at the break.

Bosse hit a pair of threes in the third and the Bulldogs led 42-33 after three quarters.

The Pioneers trimmed the Brownsburg lead down to just two points with less than three minutes to go. Bosse came up with a huge bucket around the 1-minute mark to put Brownsburg up 46-42.

The Bulldogs advance to take on Terre Haute South in Semi-Final No.2 at Plainfield. The game will tip off following the Avon/Plainfield matchup at 6 p.m.
