Bulldogs Over the Stars
The Varsity Girls' Basketball Team improved to 9-4 on the season with a win over Western Boone on Saturday night, 68-46. The Dogs got off to a great start behind 8 quick points from Aliyah Walker. The Dogs were up, 15-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Dogs continued to attack the basket in the second quarter with balanced scoring. The Dogs entered halftime with a 30-15 advantage. The Stars fought back in the third quarter, outscoring the Dogs by one. The Dogs entered the fourth quarter up 46-32. The Dogs turned up the D in the fourth quarter. Devin Courtney finished with 6 steals and Zhane Roper finished with 5 steals. Aliyah finished with 6 blocks. Devin and Hannah Linville each scored 3 baskets in transition in the fourth quarter to put the Dogs up by 20 with 2 minutes to play.
Aliyah scored a game high 26 points and dominated in the post. Aliyah pulled down 15 rebounds. Devin finished with 12 points and and 3 rebounds. Hannah finished with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Zhane and Reilly Olmstead did a great job pushing the ball down the court finding open teammates and directing the offense. Reilly finished with 9 points and 3 rebounds. Zhane finished with 8 points.
The girls will face an always tough Plainfield team in the first round of the Hendricks County Tournament on Tuesday night at Avon. Come out and support your Dogs!
