Girls' Basketball Team Wins #20

The varsity girls' basketball team entered the IHSAA state tournament sectional semi-final with lots of energy as they defeated Decatur Central on Friday night, 66-43. 

The Dogs jumped out early with Ryne Carr and Stephanie Mavunga scoring 12 of the Dogs 15, first quarter points.  The Dogs led by five after one. 

The Dogs continued to push the ball in the second quarter scoring 21 points in the eight minutes of action.  Erika Lesch and Morgan Miller both drained a three in the second while Mavunga continued to score in the paint.  The Dogs entered half time leading, 36-18. 

The Dogs played great defense in the third quarter, holding the Hawks to just two field goals.  Lindsey Dall scored seven of her 13 points in the third and grabbed seven boards in the game. 

Mavunga finished with a game high 28 points, 13 rebounds, seven blocks, three steals and two assists.  Miller dished out five assists to go along with her five steals.  Allison DeVaney and Alaura McKemie combined for eight rebounds and eight steals.  

The Dogs advanced to the sectional final to face the number one team in the state, Ben Davis.
