Girls' Basketball Team Closes Out Regular Season With Senior Night Win

The varsity girls' basketball team finished the regular season in fine fashion on Senior Night as they defeated Brebeuf Jesuit, 55-30.

Seniors Shelby Morphew, Elissa Hall, Ryne Carr, Lindsey Dall, Alaura McKemie, Erika Lesch and Morgan Miller were recognized, along with their families, before the game.  These seven seniors have been instrumental to the success of the program over the past four years.   They have been great leaders on the court, in the weight room and in the classroom.  They will be missed!

Both teams got off to a slow start in the first quarter, the Dogs were up 9-3 after eight minutes of action.  The Dogs warmed up in the second quarter, scoring 19 points and entering the half with a nine point lead, 28-19.    Stephanie Mavunga scored 20 of her game high 27 points in the first half, and finished the night with 11 rebounds and seven blocks.

The Dogs' defense was relentless in the third, holding the Braves scoreless in the quarter, while the offense poured in 20 third quarter points.

Miller went two for two behind the three point arc and was perfect from the free throw line finishing with eight points.  She also dished out five assists.

Dall and Lesch combined for 13 points.  Carr was impressive defensively with seven steals.

The Dogs finished the regular season 18-4 and face Arsenal Tech in the first round of sectionals on Wednesday night.
