HCC Leader McCutcheon Defeats Bulldogs To Remain Undefeated

The varsity girls' basketball team lost a heartbreaker to undefeated conference leader and state ranked #3 McCutcheon 59-52. 

The teams traded baskets early on and were tied 17-17 at the end of the first quarter. 

The Mavericks continued to attack in the second quarter outscoring the Dogs by 13 entering the half up 34-21. 

The Dogs turned up the heat in the third quarter, holding the Mavs to just one free throw in the quarter.  The Dogs attacked on the offensive end as well, scoring 19 third quarter points, and led 40-35 entering the fourth. 

The teams continued to trade baskets, with the score tied at 51 with 1:55 remaining on the clock.  The Mavs capitalized on some hot shooting in the final minutes of action to outscore the Dogs down the stretch. 

Stephanie Mavunga scored 16 points and pulled down 11 boards.  Lindsey Dall added nine points and five rebounds.  Ryne Carr had eight points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals.  Alaura McKemie had five points in the first half and finished the game without a turnover. 

The Dogs will take some time off before facing Zionsville next Wednesday.
