Bulldogs Move To 3-1 in HCC

The varsity girls' basketball team improved to 7-2 on the season defeating conference foe Lafayette Harrison, 53-20 on Saturday night.

Morgan Miller and Stephanie Mavunga got the Dogs off to a great start on the offensive end, scoring 23 of the Dogs' 25 first half points.  The Dogs held the Raiders to just 13 points in the first two quarters of action and entered the break with a 12 point lead.  The Dogs turned up the defense in the second half, forcing 27 turnovers in the game and holding the Raiders to seven second half points.  Miller was a perfect 5 -5 from the field and grabbed six rebounds, dished out five assists, had two steals and finished the game without a turnover.

Mavunga had a great game scoring 23 points, all in the first three quarters of action; she also pulled down six rebounds, blocked five shots and had four steals.

Ryne Carr and Allison DeVaney played tough defense.  The two combined for five steals, seven rebounds and five points.  Shelby Morphew connected on a nice three point play down the stretch.  Morphew and Elissa Hall combined for six rebounds.

The Dogs face a tough Plainfield squad on Wednesday night.
