Bulldogs Lose One Point Heartbreaker at HSE

The varsity girls basketball team lost a heartbreaker last night to the tenth ranked team in the state and conference rival, Hamilton Southeastern, 53-52.

The Dogs got off to a quick start leading the Royals by six at the end of the first quarter. Fouls plagued the Dogs in the second quarter and the Royals narrowed the Dogs lead to one heading into the half.

The final two quarters of action were a dog fight.  Great defense and several hustle plays kept the game close down to the final second, but the Dogs could not get the last couple of shots to fall.

Stephanie Mavunga scored a game high 19 points, hitting 60% from the field.

Lindsey Dall did a great job in the paint and finished with ten points and an important steal and bucket in the final seconds of the game. Allison DeVaney played great defense and had three big steals.

Katie Reinhart hit three crucial free throws at the end of the third quarter, with no time left on the clock.  Alaura McKemie finished with a team high seven rebounds. Ryne Carr hit an important three down the stretch and grabbed six boards.

The Dogs face Danville on Friday night in the Varsity Fieldhouse.
