JV Softball Beats Westfield

The JV Purple softball team took to the diamond Tuesday evening to battle conference rival Westfield. They came out victorious with a 15-3 win in five innings to move to 2-1 on the year.

Freshman Ashleigh Tranter pitched three innings for the win. She gave up three hits for the evening and issued two base on balls with two strikeouts. She did not have an earned run in gaining her first win of the year. Sophomore Natalie Metzger pitched two innings in relief allowing two runs, three hits and three base on balls with two strikeouts.

The defense was stellar with Sophomore Kiersten Huff making some great plays at short stop while Juniors Mallerie Gordon and Tori Breckler were solid at first and behind the plate respectively.

Offensively Sophomore Kiersten Huff led the way going 3 for 4 and scoring four runs. Also, with strong performances were Sophomores Taylor Ballinger and Bri Howard. Ballinger went 2 for 3 with two doubles, scored two runs and had five RBI. Howard was two for three, scored two runs with a double and two RBI.

The JV Purple ladies play their second of four games this week Thursday at Center Grove.
