Softball Defeats #5 Center Grove

The Bulldogs softball team had an exciting upset against the #5 ranked Center Grove Trojans Thursday night, defeating the Trojans 2-1 in seven innings. The Dogs were off to a slow start the first few innings and fell behind 1-0 in the second inning, but Senior Sydney Rodegheir got things rolling in the third inning with a single up the middle, followed by a big gap shop double from freshman, Kaylee Larkin who hit Rodegheir in to tie it up 1-1. The Bulldogs struggled to score any more runs until the top of the 7th inning but were able to play tight defense and hold the Trojans to only 1 run. In the top of the 7th freshman, Kaylee Larkin got things rolling again with her second base hit of the evening. Lydia Twomey pinch ran for Larkin and would be the winning run to score after Senior, Hayley Huff drove a line shot up the left field line to score Twomey. The Bulldogs ended the night with a total of 6 hits which would be all they needed to secure the win.

Freshman, Kelsey Endress secured her first victory in the circle against the Trojans. She had an outstanding performance allowing only 3 hits and 1 earned run in seven innings. Endress had 6 strikeouts and 0 walked batters for the night.

The Bulldogs will be in action one more time this week on Saturday at Warren Central. They will play 2 games at 10 and 1. Go Dogs!
